Oslo Jazz Festival

Oslo Jazz Festival (OJF) is a non-profit foundation that produces a festival with 60-70 concerts at 15-18 venues in the centre of Oslo every year in week 33.

Since its inception in 1986, OJF has grown to become one of Europe's most important jazz festivals. Over time, the festival has increasingly taken on a cultural and social responsibility that goes beyond the festival's core business as a concert organizer.

The festival has offered countless musical experiences in a class of their own for Oslo's music-loving audience. The festival has had legends such as Tony Bennett, Jan Garbarek, Cab Calloway, Ornette Coleman and Paul Bley on the program. The festival has helped to highlight young talents who are in the process of building a solid career. Examples of the latter are Ellen Andrea Wang, Anja Lauvdal, Daniela Reyes, Kristoffer Kompen and the bands Juno and Kongle Trio.

Oslo Jazzfestival believes in the practice of leading by example. As a part of the festival’s social responsibility it organizes concerts for those who aren’t able to attend jazz clubs. This is a diverse audience that includes prison inmates, senior citizens and primary school students.

The festival has a broad focus on children and youths with BUZZ-workshop for the youngest (6-16), collaborations with upper secondary schools and a talent program Nordic Showcase for musicians at university and college level.

The festival has a strong environmental focus and has been certified as “Eco-Lighthouse” since 2018. In addition to this, the festival works actively to increase diversity and gender balance in the music field.
