The Nürnberg Project
The journey
"Dimensions of Rhythm" is a pan-European ensemble project that illuminates exciting textures on a large scale in a multinational line-up. Students from twelve nations from the music academies of Oslo, Parma, Glasgow, Hamburg and Nuremberg have explored the different dimensions of rhythm in two intensive work phases and will present collective improvisational power and brand new compositions at the NUEJazz Festival Nuremberg.
The Nuremberg-band started its journey in February 2020 and had its first intensive rehearsal week right before the Covid-19 pandemic hit.
The Project was sheduled to perform at NUEJazz Featival in November 2020. Sadly, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, no-one could travel and the concert was cancelled.
One year later the band came together again and performed on Friday 29 October 2021 at the NUEJazz Festival. You can watch the concert here!
The European Jazz Workshop 2021 - Z-Bau
The music
The music was created by the band members as a group effort. All musicians have contributed musical Ideas, groove, loops, improvisational concepts. These were integrated into the compositions in various degrees.
With an extended rhythm section, this unusual combination allows for exciting rhythmic conundrums, superimpositions, shifts and, of course, plenty of groove.
"Dimenions of Rhythm" was performed at NUEJazz Festival on October 29, 2021.
